Junior quarterback Kevin Prince (Los Angeles, CA/Crespi HS) of the UCLA football team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 4-9.
Prince came off the bench to rally UCLA to a 28-25 win over Washington State on Saturday. Replacing an injured Richard Brehaut in the second quarter, Prince completed eight of 13 passes for 173 yards and two fourth quarter touchdowns. After Washington State took a 9-7 advantage into the halftime break, Prince came out of the locker room and connected with Nelson Rosario on a 21-yard strike, which helped propel UCLA to 14-9 lead. After the Cougars reclaimed the lead, 22-14, with 12:17 remaining, Prince went to work, tossing a nine-yard scoring strike to Josh Smith at the 10:46 mark, which sliced the deficit to 22-20. A WSU field goal put the Cougars up 25-20 with a little under six minutes to play, but Prince again rallied the Bruins, hooking up with Rosario on a 58-yard aerial to move UCLA to the WSU 10-yard line. On third and goal, Prince hit Shaquelle Evans on a seven-yard scoring pass with 3:26 to play, and the two-point conversion pass to Rosario lifted the Bruins into a 28-25 lead that they would hold.
This is Prince's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
