LOS ANGELES - HBO Sports has produced a documentary that traces the incredible success of the UCLA men's basketball program, which captured an astounding 10 national titles during a 12-year run. Examining the evolution of a landmark sports institution at a time of tremendous change throughout the United States, THE UCLA DYNASTY will debut in the heat of "March Madness," MONDAY, MARCH 26 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT).

While the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights movement and political scandal were consuming the nation, a basketball legacy grew in southern California. Led by coach John Wooden, the UCLA Bruins amassed an unprecedented ten NCAA titles in the 12 seasons from 1964-1975, setting a standard of excellence and gaining notoriety as a reliant constant in a volatile country. To this day, the Wooden legacy and the Bruins' record-breaking 88-game winning streak remain unparalleled in collegiate sports.

Capturing the spirit of the era through the comments of former team members, students, commentators and coach Wooden himself, along with archival footage, THE UCLA DYNASTY sheds light on the advent of the college basketball craze. The UCLA juggernaut triggered unprecedented national interest in the sport and the NCAA tournament grew at a pace never before seen.

Individual player statistics -- for such greats as Lew Alcindor (later Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Bill Walton and Sidney Wicks -- were sacrificed for the good of the team. Wooden's "Pyramid of Success" garnered a legion of followers and created a dynasty that still holds numerous conference and NCAA records.

The 96-year-old Wooden heads a high-profile list of interviewees that includes players Bill Walton, Lucius Allen, Gail Goodrich, Marques Johnson, Sidney Wicks, Henry Bibby and Elvin Hayes; sports executive Eddie Einhorn; sportscaster Dick Enberg; and actor and former UCLA football star Mark Harmon, as well as other former students, professors, coaches and observers of the sport.

Recognized as the source of "some of the best sports documentaries ever shown on television" (Associated Press), HBO Sports has been honored with six prestigious George Foster Peabody Awards for "its ongoing and consistently superb series of documentaries." HBO Sports has won 71 Sports Emmy® Awards, including 25 for documentaries.

Executive producers of THE UCLA DYNASTY are Ross Greenburg and Rick Bernstein; produced by George Roy.
