Junior forward Kristina Larsen (Mission Viejo, CA/Mission Viejo HS) of the UCLA women's soccer team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 6-12.
Larsen had a hand in five of UCLA's six goals on the weekend, as the Bruins posted wins over No. 25 Washington State and Washington to begin the conference season 2-0. With less than a minute to play and UCLA down 1-0 to Washington State on Friday evening, Larsen assisted on the game-tying goal in the 90th minute to help send the match into overtime. She then scored the game-winning goal in the 102nd minute to give the Bruins a 2-1 come-from-behind victory. Larsen's late-game heroics helped extend the nation's longest active home winning streak to 44 matches (the second longest in NCAA history). Larsen then had two more goals and an assist in UCLA's 4-0 victory over Washington on Sunday. She finished the weekend with eight points on three goals and two assists. She is now tied for the team lead in goals with seven.
This is Larsen's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
