LEXINGTON, Ky. - The defending champion Bruins were revealed as the preseason top-ranked team in the AVCA Coaches Poll, which was released on Monday. UCLA received 54 of 60 first-place votes and 1,485 points.

Seven of the Pac-12 teams are mentioned in the preseason poll. USC is ranked fifth, while Stanford comes in at sixth. Outside of the Top 10, Washington is #14, California is #17 and Oregon is #20. Arizona was featured in the others receiving votes.

Four of the Bruins' non-conference opponents are ranked in the preseason Top 25, including #4 Nebraska, which UCLA faces next Saturday, Aug. 25 in Lincoln. The Bruins also have three straight ranked matchups to end non-conference play on Sept. 9 at #8 Hawai'i, Sept. 12 vs. #11 Pepperdine at the John Wooden Center and Sept. 15 at #25 Colorado State.

The Bruins' top ranking is the third time they have been selected as the preseason #1 team. UCLA was #1 in the 1990 and 1992 preseason polls.

UCLA continues preseason practice and hosts the Alumni Match on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the John Wooden Center. Admission is free and entrance will be at the east end of JWC, at the same spot where fans entered during last regular season.
