On February 9, 23 freshmen scholarship football student-athletes attended the Fifth Annual Etiquette Dinner hosted by the Academic and Student Services unit in the Department of Athletics. The student-athletes attended the banquet along with athletic staff members and faculty from various departments across UCLA. Ric Coy, Assistant Direct of Student Services and Ashley Armstrong, Director of Student-Athlete Development, educated the student athletes on appropriate social behavior, including dinner etiquette, suitable dress and formal introductions.

After the presentation, the student-athletes were given the opportunity to put these guidelines to practice during a formal dinner catered by ASUCLA. Over a four-course meal, student-athletes were given an opportunity to network and socialize with faculty and staff members in attendance.

'I enjoyed being able to see the professors outside of the classroom and the networking opportunities it brought me,' remarked freshman safety Tevin McDonald.

The etiquette presentation allowed the student-athletes a learning opportunity that they can apply in the future. These student-athletes were able to learn valuable professional and social techniques with the help of many respected members of the university community. These skills will translate well both on and off the field as they pursue their academic and athletic careers at UCLA.

The football program placed 24 true freshmen on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll during the fall quarter, including 19 of 20 scholarship freshmen.
