Former UCLA receiver Eric Scott, who has gained valuable experience as an assistant coach at Crenshaw High School, has been hired as UCLA's new wide receivers coach, Bruin head coach Karl Dorrell announced today.

Last season, Scott worked as an intern in the football office, helping with administrative duties and breaking down video of Bruin opponents.

"Eric is an up and coming talent in this profession," said Dorrell. "He has a great sense of evaluating talent and developing skill players to reach their potential."

Prior to last season, he spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, working with several current Bruins such as Aleksey Lanis, Reggie Carter and Chinonso Anyanwu and 2007 letter-of-intent signees Brian Price and Raymond Carter.

As a Bruin wide receiver, Scott earned three letters (1995-96-97) after transferring from Northwestern and played his senior season as a graduate student (he earned his Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 1997). He made 27 career receptions (14 in 1995) for 372 yards as a Bruin, starting five games as a junior and serving as a valuable reserve as a sophomore and senior. In his final year, he also averaged 10.7 yards on 23 punt returns.

Scott, 32, earned prep All-America honors as a senior in 1992 at Crenshaw High School. He played numerous positions, including quarterback, running back, wide receiver and cornerback.
