BRIGHAM HARWELL AND TERRENCE AUSTIN SELECTED UCLA FOOTBALL'S MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS

Defensive tackle Brigham Harwell and wide receiver Terrence Austin were selected winners of UCLA's Henry R. "Red" Sanders Award for Most Valuable Player at the Annual UCLA Football Awards Banquet, held Wednesday evening at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Harwell, a season team captain, returned from a knee injury to start all 12 games in 2008. He earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors while making 53 tackles to rank sixth on the squad. He was third on the squad with 6.0 tackles for loss and concluded his Bruin career with 26.5 tackles behind the line.

Austin led the Bruins with 53 receptions, the most by a Bruin wide receiver since Craig Bragg made 73 catches in 2003. In addition, he set UCLA season records for all-purpose yards (1,878), kickoff return yards (1,109) and kickoff returns (46). He ranked 16th in the NCAA in all-purpose yardage.
