GREENVILLE, N.C. - The second game of the UCLA baseball team's Friday doubleheader at East Carolina has been suspended in the middle of the sixth inning due to rain. The contest will resume at 6:30 a.m. (PT) on Saturday, March 14.
The Bruins lead East Carolina, 5-3, headed into the bottom of the sixth inning in the second game of a three-game series at East Carolina's Clark-LeClair Stadium.
In the currently-suspended contest, Bruin right-hander Gerrit Cole recorded 12 strikeouts in the first five innings against East Carolina, surrendering just three runs of three hits, including two home runs to center field.
East Carolina raced to a 3-0 lead through three innings before UCLA answered with a five-run fourth inning.
UCLA defeated East Carolina, 10-9, at Clark-LeClair Stadium earlier on Friday afternoon. In the first contest, designated hitter Cody Decker led the Bruins with a 3-for-5 effort at the plate, belting two home runs in the game and totaling five RBI.
UCLA and East Carolina will play the third game of their three-game series 45 minutes following the conclusion of the resumed game on Saturday morning.
