LOS ANGELES - Junior Lainey Gera tied a school record for digs in a three-set match with 28, while senior Dicey McGraw and sophomores Rachael Kidder and Bojana Todorovic each had double figures in kills, as the 10th-ranked Bruins swept Arizona State on Friday at Collins Court in the John Wooden Center. Set scores were 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.

The Bruins improve to 18-7 overall and 8-6 in Pac-10 play, while the Sun Devils fall to 11-15 and 5-8 in league action.

Gera's 28 digs equaled the mark set by Chrissie Zartman, who had that total on Dec. 4, 2004 against Long Beach State. Gera is now fifth all-time in UCLA history in digs with 1,256.

Kidder posted her 11th straight match with double figures in kills with a match-high 14 to go with four blocks. McGraw added 12 kills and Todorovic notched 10 with seven digs and three blocks. Junior Lauren Van Orden recorded 43 assists, while junior Katie Camp tallied seven kills and seven blocks. The Bruins had 11.5 blocks as a team and hit .248 for the match.

The Sun Devils held the advantage early in the opening stanza, but the Bruins' biggest deficit was only two. Trailing 7-5, UCLA scored three straight and five of the next six to take a 10-8 edge. Back-to-back kills by McGraw evened the score at seven and an ASU attack error gave the Bruins a lead for the first time. After a Sun Devil sideout tied things at eight, consecutive kills by freshman Mariana Aquino and Todorovic gave UCLA a 10-8 advantage. Still up 11-10, the Bruins extended their lead to a set-best five at 16-11. An ASU attack error and a Camp solo block made it 13-10. One sideout later, a Kidder kill and a Camp solo block and kill gave the Bruins a five-point edge.

Down 17-12, Arizona State rallied with a 7-1 run to re-take the lead at 19-18. The Sun Devils still held a 20-19 edge, but the Bruins came back with a 3-0 run to go ahead 22-20. The run began with a Todorovic kill, which was followed by a triple block by the law firm of Camp, Kidder and Todorovic and a kill from Camp to give UCLA a two-point lead. After an ASU sideout, kills by Camp and Kidder gave the Bruins set point. Arizona State staved off the first attempt, but Kidder clinched the opener with her team-leading sixth kill of the set to give the home squad a 25-22 triumph. McGraw posted four kills in the opener, Camp had four kills and three blocks and Aquino added three kills. Gera posted eight digs, as the Bruins out-hit the Sun Devils .297 to .189.

Arizona State led early to open the second set with a 4-2 margin, but UCLA responded with five of the next six to go ahead 7-5. Kills by Kidder and McGraw evened the score at four, and after an ASU sideout, back-to-back Sun Devil attack errors and a McGraw kill made it a two-point lead. The Bruins never trailed for the rest of the set. On top 9-7, UCLA tallied four of five to go ahead 13-8. A Todorovic kill and a combo block by Aquino and Kidder made it 11-7. After an ASU sideout, a Kidder kill and a Camp/Todorovic combo roof put the Bruins up by five.

Leading 17-12, the Bruins' advantage rose to a set-best eight following a 3-0 run. A pair of kills by McGraw with an Aquino/McGraw combo block sandwiched between made it 20-12. UCLA's lead remained between six and eight for the rest of the set, as the home team clinched things with a kill by Todorovic to give the Bruins a 25-17 victory. Kidder and McGraw each had five kills in the second, while Todorovic added three. Gera had 10 digs, as the Bruins out-hit the Sun Devils .211 to .026.

The Bruins again started slow in the third set, as the Sun Devils came out with six of the first eight points. Arizona State still held a 9-5 edge when UCLA went on a 5-1 run to tie the score at 10. A pair of kills by McGraw with an Aquino/Todorovic combo block in between cut the deficit to 9-8. After an ASU sideout, a Todorovic kill and a Sun Devil attack error tied it up. The score was tied again at 11 and 12-all, but two in a row on a Van Orden dump and a Camp/Van Orden combo block gave the Bruins a 14-12 lead.

Arizona State tied it up at 14 and 16-all, but were unable to re-capture the advantage. Even at 16, kills by Camp, McGraw and Van Orden gave UCLA a 19-16 lead. The Sun Devils closed to within one at 20-19, but the Bruins rattled off the last five points of the match to win it 25-19. A kill by Todorovic, back-to-back kills by Kidder, a combo block by Aquino and Kidder and an ASU attack error finished off the Sun Devils. Todorovic paced the Bruins with five kills in the third, while Kidder and McGraw had three apiece. Gera had 10 digs in the third, as the Bruins, who had five blocks in the set, out-hit the Sun Devils .239 to .116.

The Bruins are back in action on Saturday against 20th-ranked Arizona at Collins Court in the Wooden Center. First serve is at 7 p.m. and Gametracker and live audio will be available at UCLABruins.com.
