Leroux Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

Aug. 15, 2011

LOS ANGELES - UCLA women's soccer player Sydney Leroux has been tabbed as one of the early candidates for player of the year honors, as she was one of 42 players named to the 2011 Watch List for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, the highest individual award in collegiate soccer.

Leroux, a senior forward from Vancouver, British Columbia, was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy as a sophomore in 2009. She is a two-time NSCAA All-American who has led UCLA in scoring the last two seasons. Even with one season still to play, Leroux ranks in the top 5 all time at UCLA in several categories, including points (5th - 91), goals (4th - 41) and game-winning goals (4th - 15).

UCLA has never had a player win the MAC Hermann Trophy, although Lauren Cheney (2007 & 2009) and Christina DiMartino (2008) were both finalists for the award.
