WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Beau Amaral of the UCLA baseball team has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors for the week of April 9-15, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Amaral batted .500 (9-for-18) with two triples, one double, six RBI and seven runs in UCLA's four games against top-25 ranked teams last week.

He extended his career-long hitting streak to 18 games in a 6-2 win on Sunday as the Bruins took two of three games at then-No. 4 ranked Arizona.

Amaral has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors three times in his career - once as a freshman (May 2010) and twice this season. The Bruins' starting center fielder has batted .346 with a .417 on-base percentage in all 32 games this spring. He has posted a .431 batting average in Pac-12 action.

After going 2-for-3 with one run in a 4-2 win against No. 12 Cal State Fullerton last Tuesday, Amaral went 4-for-6 with four RBI, four runs and two triples in a 15-3 victory against Arizona on Saturday night. He followed that effort with a 2-for-5 performance on Sunday afternoon. In the series finale, Amaral drove home the game-tying run with a double to right field in the fifth inning before scoring the go-ahead run.

Amaral's 18-game hitting streak is the longest by any UCLA player since 2005, when Chris Jensen compiled an 18-game hitting streak during his junior season.

Through nine weeks of the college baseball season, UCLA has had four Pac-12 Player of the Week selections (Amaral twice, Jeff Gelalich twice) and two Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honorees (Adam Plutko, Grant Watson).

UCLA hosts a non-conference game against Cal State Northridge on Tuesday evening. Game time at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium is 6 p.m.
