LOS ANGELES - All five Bruin divers on Saturday made the Three-Meter final, with sophomore Emma Ivory-Ganja winning the title, as #15 UCLA wrapped up competition at the Trojan Diving Invitational at USC.
Ivory-Ganja, who won the preliminary in Friday's One-Meter but missed on a dive to finish fourth in the final, rebounded in Saturday's lone event. Her teammate, junior Paulina Guzman, who finished second in the 1-M final, placed first after the initial six dives with a score of 308.50. Ivory-Ganja was third at 287.00 after the preliminaries.
In the final six dives, Ivory-Ganja posted a total of 309.50 to take the victory. Guzman was third after recording a mark of 283.40.
Three more Bruin divers also made the final, improving on their preliminary totals. Freshman Montana Monahan went from 234.55 in the prelims to 261.20 in the final to finish seventh. Right behind Monahan was senior Michelle Vale, who was eighth after going 249.70 in the prelims to 259.95 in the final. Fellow senior Maggy Boyd placed 11th (230.50-231.05).
The UCLA swimming and diving teams are reunited next week at the Spieker Aquatics Center. The Bruins host a quad meet with Arizona State, CSU Bakersfield and San Diego on Friday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m., and follow that with a dual meet against Arizona on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.
