Senior Noelle Hickey (Hackensack, NJ/Bergen Academies) of the UCLA women's tennis was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 28-Mar. 6.
Hickey, who was unranked in both doubles and singles, posted upsets in all four of her wins on the week, leading UCLA to victories over No. 15 USC (5-2) and No. 20 Washington (6-1). Against USC on Wednesday, Hickey and teammate McCall Jones started the match by downing 10th-ranked Valeria Pulido and Alison Ramos, 8-0 at court No. 2. Hickey scored another big upset in singles, beating 18th-ranked Danielle Lao, 6-3, 6-3 at court No. 2. She continued her outstanding play on Saturday, teaming with Jones again, this time at the No. 1 position, to down sixth-ranked Venise Chan and Denise Dy, 8-4. She then knocked off Chan, who is ranked No. 27 nationally in singles, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 position. .
This is Hickey's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
