Sept. 28, 2010
Junior linebacker Sean Westgate (Oak Park, CA/Oak Park HS) of the UCLA football team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 20-26.
In the 34-12 upset win at No. 7 Texas, Westgate led the Bruins with a career-high 11 tackles (seven solos) and forced a fumble on a punt to set up UCLA's first touchdown of the afternoon. He now leads the team with 32 tackles and his 8.00 average ranks seventh (tied) in the Pac-10. The win was UCLA's first road victory over an AP-ranked team since Sept. 29, 2001 at #19 Oregon State (38-7). It was also UCLA's first road victory over an AP Top 10 school since beating 10th-ranked Arizona, 52-28, on Oct. 10, 1998.
This is Westgate's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
