UCLA FACES ST. FRANCIS BROOKLYN AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
No. 2 UCLA (27-4, 7-1 MPSF) will face No. 3 St. Francis Brooklyn (16-8, 4-2 CWPA) on Dec. 1 at 3:12 p.m. in the semifinals of the 2012 NCAA Championship at USC. The winner will advance to the NCAA title game to face either No. 1 USC (27-0) or No. 4 Air Force (19-10) at 3:12 p.m. on Dec. 2 while the losers will square off at 1:00 p.m. in the consolation game.

SERIES MEETINGS
UCLA is 1-0 all-time vs. the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers. The Bruins won the only meeting, 18-2, at the NorCal Tourney on Oct. 17, 1998. The Bruins are 24-0 all-time against Air Force, last winning 18-5 at the SoCal Tournament on Sept. 17, 2011. UCLA is 73-74-1 all-time against USC. The Bruins dropped a pair of one-goal decisions to USC this year.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK
The No. 2 UCLA men's water polo team rallied to defeat No. 7 Pacific, 10-8, in the quarterfinals of the 2012 MPSF Tournament at USC on Nov. 23. Senior Josh Samuels and junior Aimone Barabino led the Bruins with two goals apiece. The Bruins also got one goal each from juniors Chris Wendt and Lucas Reynolds and from sophomores Paul Reynolds, Daniel Lenhart and Chris Fahlsing.

The No. 2 UCLA men's water polo team fell to No. 3 California, 12-9, in the semifinals of the 2012 MPSF Tournament at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium on Nov. 24. Senior Josh Samuels and junior Chris Wendt led the Bruins with three goals apiece. The Bruins also got one goal each from senior Griffin White and sophomores Daniel Lenhart and Chris Fahlsing. Matt Russell led California with three goals as the Golden Bears led from start to finish.

The Bruins fought off a tough fourth-ranked Stanford squad to post a 10-9 triple overtime win to capture third-place at the 2012 MPSF Tournament at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium on Nov. 25. Senior Josh Samuels, freshman Danny McClintick and sophomores Paul Reynolds and Chris Fahlsing each scored two goals to lead the Bruins. But is was sophomore Daniel Lenhart that came through with the late heroics, netting the game-winning golden goal in the third overtime period.

SAMUELS AT NO. 4 IN CAREER SCORING
Senior Josh Samuels has scored 65 goals this season, surpassing the 49 he tallied a year ago. He moved into fourth two weeks ago on the UCLA career charts and now has 173 goals in 108 games. Samuels needs five more goals to move into third all-time (Sean Kern, 1997-00, 177). He has now scored at least one goal in 26 of the 29 games he has played and has recorded multiple scores in 22 of those 29 contests.

WHITE AT NO. 7 IN CAREER SCORING
Senior Griffin White has scored 42 goals this season, and has moved into a tie for seventh place (Krsto Sbutega, 2005-08) with 143 career goals in 110 games. White needs ninemore goals to move into sixth place (Scott Davidson, 2006-09, 152). He has scored at least one goal in each of the last nine games, a season-best streak.

2012 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD
Just four teams qualify for the 2012 NCAA Tournament, held this weekend at USC's McDonald's Swim Stadium from Dec. 1-2. USC won the automatic bid from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). St. Francis Brooklyn won the automatic bid from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) while Air Force got an automatic berth by winning the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA). The UCLA Bruins snagged the only at-large bid by ammassing an overall record of 27-4 (7-1 MPSF) and being ranked No. 2 in the country for 12 of the 14 weeks during the 2012 season.

WRIGHT ON DECK FOR YEAR FOUR
The Bruins are led by fourth-year head coach Adam Wright, who has compiled a 90-22 (.804) record, including a 24-8 (.750) mark in MPSF action. Wright played at UCLA from 1997-2000, helping lead the Bruins to NCAA Championships in 1999 and 2000. He played for the USA National Team in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics, leading Team USA to a silver medal in 2008 in Beijing. Wright has played for the National Team in every major international tournament since 2001. He has guided the Bruins to two MPSF Tournament titles and runner-up finishes at the NCAA Tournament in his three seasons at the helm. In 2009 and 2011, UCLA won the MPSF Tournament title and advanced to the title match of the NCAA Tournament. Wright was named MPSF Coach of the Year in 2011 after leading UCLA to the MPSF Tournament title and a runner-up finish at the NCAA Tournament.
