Senior goalkeeper Ashley Thompson (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Trabuco Hills HS) of the UCLA women's soccer team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
Thompson helped UCLA register a pair of shutouts over the weekend, as the Bruins upped their undefeated record to 9-0-2 on the season. Thompson tied her single-game high for saves with seven on Friday evening in the 1-0 victory over Pepperdine. She also added two more saves in the Bruins' 3-0 win over No. 19 San Diego on Sunday afternoon. UCLA has now outscored the competition 26-1 this season. Sunday's win also marked the team's 10th straight shutout. Thompson ranks No. 1 in the country in goals against average (0.10).
This is Thompson's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
