LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced on Wednesday the 2011 Hall of Fame class of three, which includes former Bruin great Liz Masakayan.

The 2011 AVCA Hall of Fame class will be inducted in a December 15 ceremony at the Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon held in conjunction with the 2011 AVCA Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

The induction of these three honorees will bring the total number of AVCA Hall of Famers to 55 in its nine years of existence. Maskayan joins her college coach Andy Banachowski, who was inducted in the inaugural class of 2003.

In 1997 in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of UCLA women's volleyball, Masakayan was named one of the Greatest 25 Players in UCLA History. A four-year letterwinner from 1982-85, Masakayan helped the Bruins to an NCAA Championship in 1984 as a player and also guided UCLA to a national title as an assistant coach in 1991.

A three-time All-American (1983-85), she was the winner of the Honda Award, given to the top player in her sport for 1984. Masakayan is first in UCLA history in aces (259), third in kills (2,044) and ninth in digs (1,142). Her #21 uniform was retired and she was inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame in 1996.

After her days in Westwood, Masakayan was a member of the USA Indoor National Team, earning a nod on the roster at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. She was a member of the USA National Team from 1986 to 1990.
