When the UCLA football team takes the field tonight against its rivals from USC at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Bruins will be sporting a new adidas HI OCTANE uniform.
The primarily white jersey will feature re-designed dark blue and gold numbers and a short-sleeved base layer emblazoned with the traditional UCLA stripes, in dark blue and gold, on the arms. The pants, also white, will feature the same blue and gold trim, with the traditional script UCLA on the upper left thigh.
Tonight's game will mark the first time in two years that UCLA will take the field wearing an alternate uniform. In the 2009 matchup with USC, the Bruins donned powder blue, Gary Beban-era uniforms.
The alternate uniform worn by the Bruins tonight continues a long relationship between UCLA Athletics and adidas, with plans already in the works for more innovations during the Bruins' 2012 season football and beyond, which will continue to keep UCLA on the cutting-edge of uniform technology for years to come.
"UCLA has one of the most classic looks in college football, and to celebrate their crosstown rivalry our team wanted to create a bold look that would excite the Bruins and their fans as they head into the biggest rivalry game of the year," said Mark Daniels, director of football for adidas.
