California (15-9, 7-5 Pac-12) was led by 18 points and 13 rebounds from David Kravish. Richard Solomon scored 17 points for the Golden Bears, who also received double-digit scoring efforts on Thursday from Allen Crabbe (16 points) and Justin Cobbs (12 points). Crabbed scored 15 of his 16 points in the first half.
The host Golden Bears led by as many as 28 points in the first half, pushing their advantage to 47-19 with 50 seconds to play before halftime. California had sustained a large early lead by using a 15-0 scoring run midway through the first half.
Leading 20-13, California held UCLA scoreless over the game's next 5:56 and opened its margin to 22 points (35-13) before a jump shot from Travis Wear ended the Golden Bears' large scoring run.
Crabbe's 3-point basket with 6:37 to play before halftime had put California ahead of UCLA, 35-13.
California shot at a 58.8 percent clip in the first half, limiting UCLA to a 30.3 field goal percentage before halftime. The Golden Bears also won the rebounding battle by a 41-33 margin and blocked seven shots.
UCLA opened the second half on a 14-4 scoring run, reducing California's lead to 15 points - at 51-36 - with 15:50 to play. The Golden Bears responded with nine consecutive points to regain a 24-point cushion.
UCLA had defeated California, 79-65, in Los Angeles on Jan. 3. Thursday night's game marked the final regular-season meeting between the two Pac-12 programs.
The Bruins have six regular-season contests left on their schedule, including four games on the road.
UCLA returns to action at Stanford on Saturday afternoon. Game time is 1 p.m. UCLA's contest at Maples Pavilion will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
