Senior outside hitter Tabi Love (Dauphin, Manitoba/Univ. of Minnesota/Daupin Regional Secondary) of the UCLA women's volleyball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 2-8.
Love led the sixth-ranked Bruins to a pair of sweeps last weekend against Arizona State and Arizona, recording 28 kills (4.67 per set) and producing a .480 hitting percentage. Love, who is hitting over 100 points above her career average so far this season (.237 to .345), hit nearly 250 points higher than that last week. She also had five blocks.
On Friday against Arizona State, Love had 10 of the Bruins' 22 kills in the opening set. After only recording one in the second set, she posted a team-best four kills in the third with two blocks. Love finished the match with 15 kills, a .393 hitting percentage and four blocks. On Sunday versus Arizona, Love had no hitting errors, notching 13 kills in 22 swings for a .591 hitting percentage. She led the team in kills in each of the first two sets, going 3-for-4 in the opener and 6-for-9 in the second. In the third, the senior had four kills in nine attempts.
Love leads the Bruins with 4.07 kills per set and is second with 4.47 points per set.
This is Love's second UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
