NCAA Tournament Bracket

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The UCLA women's soccer team (14-4-1 overall, 6-2-1 Pac-10) earned a first round bye for the 1999 NCAA women's soccer tournament. UCLA will play the winner of the San Diego-San Diego State match on Saturday, November 13 at 1 pm at UCLA's North Athletic Field.

On Wednesday, November 10, San Diego State heads to Torero Stadium to battle the University of San Diego. UCLA is 5-1-1 in the series with San Diego State, having last defeated the Aztecs 3-0 earlier this season. The Bruins did not meet San Diego this season, however UCLA owns a 3-1-2 series advantage over San Diego. The Bruins and Toreros last met in 1998 when they tied 2-2 in Westwood.

The Bruins finished the regular-season today, upsetting the No. 8 USC Trojans and finishing with a 6-2-1 record in Pac-10 play.

UCLA is 2-3 all-time in the NCAA tournament and will be making its fourth appearance in the post-season. This is UCLA's second straight bye. In their first trip to the playoffs, the Bruins lost to Washington 2-1 in 1995. In 1997, UCLA advanced all the way to the quarterfinals, knocking off No. 7 seed Portland 1-0 and SMU 3-2 before falling to Notre Dame. Last year, the Bruins earned a first round bye but fell 2-0 BYU in the second round.
