LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's volleyball team posted an impressive 30-24, 30-6, 30-13 victoyr in 75 minutes against Oregon State on Saturday night a Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins improve to 9-5 (2-3 Pac-10) with the victory, while the Beavers fall to 5-7 (1-5) with the loss.

The Bruins and Beavers played a tight first game with the scored tied as late as 23-all before UCLA scored four straight points behind the service of Jordan Smith to take a 27-23 lead. The Beavers would add just one more point before a block by Nancy Barba and Nellie Spicer ended the game with a 30-24 UCLA victory. Barba led the Bruins in the game with six kills and two block assists for seven points.

UCLA dominated the second game of the match, hitting .440 as a team to Oregon State's -.265, a discrepancy of .705. The Bruins scored 15 consecutive points behind Smith's service in the game, a stretch just two points shy of the NCAA record. The stretch included two service aces by smith and six OSU attack errors. After the 15-point run, an Abby Windell kill gave the Beavers their final point of the game before Laura Kroneberger served out the game for the Bruins.

Six points is the fewest a UCLA opponent has scored in a single game since the start of rally scoring in the 2001 season. In game two, Katie Carter was UCLA's top hitter, downing five kills on an error-free 10 swings and adding two block assists for six points. Kaitlin Sather had a similar performance in the game, posting four kills, a .429 attack percentage, a service ace and a block assist for 5.5 points.

The Bruins put together another solid performance in game three, recording two six-point runs behind the service of Colby Lyman during the game. Sather stayed hot after the break, hitting .429 with seven kills on 14 attacks in game three as UCLA rolled to a 30-13 win with a .371 team attack percentage.

For the match, UCLA was led offensively by Sather who finished with a .414 attack percentage with 15 kills, a service ace, three blocks and seven digs for 18 points. Senior Nancy Barba and junior Katie Carter each had a team-high four blocks for the team, while freshman libero Jordan Smith had a match-high 18 digs in the contest. UCLA hit .358 to Oregon State's .009 in the match, out-blocking the Beavers by a 9-4 margin and out-digging them 42-53.

UCLA returns to the road this week with a Thursday match at Washington that will be broadcast by FOX Sports Net on a tape-delayed basis, although there are no air-times nationally until Saturday and the match will not air in Southern California until Sunday at 1 pm on FSN West. The Bruins will also visit Washington State on the weekend road trip.
