Bruin Athletic Council Hosts Bruin Academy
On Sunday, May 6 several student-athletes volunteered their time to host the Bruin Academy for middle school students from Palms and Emerson Middle Schools. The students participated in interactive activities and learned about Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success. (more)

UCLA Athletics hosted the Sixth Annual Marathon Kids Final Mile Medal Celebration on Saturday, Mar. 10 at Drake Stadium. Over 8,000 kindergarten through 5th graders and their families and teachers from around the greater Los Angeles Area returned to mark the end of the five-month program. (more)

UCLA Soccer, Volleyball Student-Athletes Adopt Classrooms This Fall
This fall, UCLA student-athletes "adopted" a classroom and corresponded with local elementary and middle school students throughout the season. By writing letters back and forth, the Adopt A Classroom program allowed students to practice their reading and writing skills while hearing from a positive role model. (more)
Fourth Annual Dribble For The Cure at UCLA Sets Record Numbers

Bruins Celebrate Halloween at Mattel Children's Hospital
On Oct. 31, Bruin student-athletes visited Mattel Children's Hospital to participate in the annual Trick or Treat event. Participants included; Tyler Trapani (Basketball), Maddi Mobley (Softball), Ally Carda (Softball), Tara Mueller (Softball), Stephany LaRosa (Softball), Kaitlin Ray (tennis), Bojana Todorovic (Volleyball), Haley McNamara (Diving), Skylar Morton (Tennis), Jeff Baca (Football). The Bruins handed out candy, posters, bracelets and pencils to the children. This is the fourth year that the Bruins have participated in the event.

UCLA's I'm Going to College Event Excites Students in Community
UCLA Athletics hosted an estimated 10,000-15,000 elementary, middle and high school students on Oct. 8 at the UCLA vs. Washington State football game through the I'm Going to College program. "I'm Going To College" couples the excitement and tradition of UCLA Athletic events with a message about the importance of pursuing higher education. This "I'm Going To College" event is the first of five that will be held throughout the academic year at a variety of sporting competitions. (more)

For the second year, UCLA Athletics hosted the Prime Time Games; a full-inclusion, peer-mentor sports program in which economically disadvantaged and under-served middle school students from the Team Prime Time after-school program ("coaches") coach and play alongside children with developmental disabilities ("athletes") in the only after school sports program of its kind. BAC Hosts Bruin Academy
Student-Athlete's from the Bruin Athletic Council (BAC) hosted the Bruin Academy on Sunday, May 2 at UCLA's Spaulding Field. The Bruin Academy enables kids from all four Team Prime Time locations, and the Bruin Kids Club members, to participate in an afternoon of fun and educational activities. Bruin student-athletes facilitated activities that stressed the importance of such things as sportsmanship, balance, effort, unity, leadership, competitiveness and skill. (more)

"The goal of off-season training in college football is to build players' physical strength and mental toughness. However, limiting our efforts only to on-field, goal-oriented results is not enough.
