Chicago, Ill. - UCLA freshman defender Javan Torre has been selected as one of 22 players who will compete for the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team at the 2013 Toulon Tournament from May 28-June 8 in Toulon, France.

Torre, a native of Santa Monica, Calif., played in 12 matches for the Bruins in 2012, making five starts and helping the team earn six shutouts. Earlier this year, Torre helped lead the U.S. U-20's to a berth in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup by helping the team to a runner-up finish at the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. He played in three of the U.S.'s five matches in the tournament.

Torre previously played for the U.S. U-20's at the 2012 Marbella Cup in Spain as well, playing in all three matches and recording an assist. He has also seen time with the U.S. U-18 National Team, participating in the 2011 Milk Cup in Northern Ireland and helping the team to a third-place finish.

The Under-21 Toulon Tournament is the USA's final game preparation for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which runs June 21-July 13 in Turkey. The 41st edition of the Toulon Tournament features 10 countries placed in two five-team groups. The USA is in Group A with Colombia, Congo DR, South Korea and host France.

The U.S. opens the tournament against France on Tuesday, May 28, at Stade Léo-Lagrange in Toulon.
