Seven Gymnasts Earn All-America Honors
By: UCLA Athletics

April 20, 2013

Los Angeles - Seven UCLA gymnasts earned 10 All-America honors for their performances in Friday's NCAA Semifinals at Pauley Pavilion. This is the second-highest number of All-America athletes from a single Championships in program history. In 2011, the Bruins tied the new program record with eight All-America honorees, set by the 2001 UCLA squad.

Of the 10 All-America honors presented to Bruins, six were first-team honors, including four on vault: Kaelie Baer, Olivia Courtney. Vanessa Zamarripa and Lichelle Wong. Courtney also earned first-team honors on floor exercise, while Danusia Francis was a first-team honoree on beam.

Second-team honors went to Alyssa Pritchett and Zamarripa on floor, Sophina DeJesus on bars and Zamarripa in the individual all-around.

Zamarripa now holds 19 career All-America honors (four regular season honors), a new school record. Her 15 postseason All-America honors tie her with Jamie Dantzscher for the second-highest career total in program history, one behind Onnie Willis (16).

UCLA's first-team All-Americans will compete in event finals on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion. Baer, Courtney, Wong, and Zamarripa will compete on vault, Francis will compete on beam, and Courtney will compete on floor exercise.
