Five UCLA gymnasts were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic gymnastics team for 2013 - second-team honoree Kaelie Baer, Alyssa Pritchett and Vanessa Zamarripa.
Wong, a senior from Ossendrecht, Holland, holds a 3.39 cumulative GPA in Psychology. This is Wong's third consecutive All-Academic honor; she was a honorable mention selection in 2011 and 2012. She has set career-highs this season on vault (9.85), bars (9.9) and all-around (39.375).
Baer, a senior from Columbus, Ind., earns her second Pac-12 All-Academic honor. The All-Pac-12 performer on vault has competed on vault and beam in every meet for the Bruins this season, achieving career-highs on both events with a 9.925 on vault and 9.875 on beam.
First-time honorees this season are Larson, Pritchett and Zamarripa. Larson, a sophomore from Los Angeles, competed in eight meets before suffering a season-ending knee injury on Mar. 10. She had season-highs of 9.875 on bars and 9.9 on beam. Pritchett has had a standout season, averaging a team-best 9.896 on floor and scoring a career-high 9.85 on vault. Zamarripa has been ranked No. 1 in the nation in the all-around for two months and was named the West Region and Pac-12 Gymnast of the Year.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
