WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Seven UCLA women's rowers have earned Pac-12 All-Academic Team accolades, and an additional 12 rowers have secured honorable mention All-Academic Team acclaim.
Juniors Victoria Babson and Carolina Paini and sophomores Chloe Kojima and Kendal Mitchell were selected first-team All-Academic selections. Senior Tamar Schaap, junior Erin Wenzel and sophomore Victoria Vander Poel were named second-team honorees.
Babson and Paini were both honored as first-team selections for the second consecutive year (student-athletes cannot earn All-Academic Team honors as a freshman). In addition, Schaap and Wenzel were named second-team selections for the second straight season.
Seniors Hillary Caldwell, Mia Hamano, Kirstin Snook and Britta Syverson captured honorable mention All-Academic honors, along with juniors Nicole Sung-Jereczek and Samantha Upton and sophomores Maddie Alden, Alex Caniglia, Sarah Dierksen, Kate Miller, Molly Schoenfeld and Cathy Stolitzka.
Hamano was named an honorable mention selection for the third consecutive season, while Snook, Sung-Jereczek and Syverson secured honorable mention accolades for the second straight year.
Student-athletes must maintain a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average and be a significant contributor to be eligible for Pac-12 All-Academic Team honors.
The UCLA women's rowing program concluded its season May 31-June 2, finishing ninth overall at NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. The Bruins' ninth-place team finish marked the program's second consecutive top-10 finish after having posted an eighth-place team finish in 2012.
