LOS ANGELES - Seniors B.B. Bates and Devon Lindvall and freshman Mysha Sataraka all hit home runs, but the 16th-ranked Bruins saw #4 Oregon score seven unanswered runs to post a 9-6 victory on Friday at Easton Stadium.

Bates, sophomore Stephany LaRosa and freshman Allexis Bennett each had two hits, as the Bruins had 10 as a team.

All three UCLA pitchers saw action in the circle. Sophomore Ally Carda (20-9) picked up the loss, striking out three in 5 1/3 innings and allowing six runs (four earned), eight hits and two walks. Junior Jessica Hall started, but only faced six batters, giving up two runs, four hits and one walk in 1/3 of an inning. Freshman Paige McDuffee tossed 1 1/3 frames of relief, striking out two and giving up a run, a hit and a walk.

Oregon (39-6, 14-2 Pac-12) scored a pair in its first at-bat. Janie Takeda and Courtney Ceo led off the inning with back-to-back singles to center, and one out later, pulled off a double steal to move into scoring position. After a walk to Kailee Cuico loaded the bases, Samantha Pappas singled past the 3-4 hole to plate Takeda and Ceo to make it 2-0. An Alexa Peterson single up the middle reloaded the bases for the Ducks, and with Janelle Lindvall at the plate, a 1-2 pitch tipped off the glove of freshman catcher Brittany Moeai, but she was able to recover and feed the ball back to the plate, as Carda tagged out Cuico for the second out. A strikeout of Lindvall would end the inning.

The Bruins (31-16, 7-12) cut their deficit in half in their first ups, but also stranded the bases loaded. LaRosa led off with an infield single to the second base bag and moved to third on a single up the middle by Bates. Carda followed with a bloop single to right-center to score LaRosa with the Bruins' first run. One out later, Hall walked to load the bases, but Moeai was retired on a comebacker and Lindvall grounded out to end the inning.

UCLA came back with four runs in the second to take its first lead of the game. With one out, Bennett singled to center, LaRosa walked and Bates went the opposite way, crushing her 18th homer of the season to left to put the Bruins on top 4-2. One out later, Sataraka belted a solo shot, her sixth homer of the year to right-center to make it 5-2.

In the bottom of the third, Lindvall joined the act, as the Bruin senior hit the first pitch she saw out to left-center for her first of the season to increase the Bruins' advantage to 6-2. In the top of the fourth, it would be Devon's sister Janelle leading off the inning, and she roped one down the left-field line for a homer to make it 6-3.

Oregon re-took the lead with five in the sixth, sending 10 to the plate. Pappas led off with an infield single to second, moved to second on a ground out, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single up the middle by Lindvall to make it 6-4. Koral Costa followed with a homer to right-center to even the contest at six. One out later, Takeda doubled to center and moved to third on a Ceo single. Howard then hit a sharp grounder to third, but Sataraka's throw to first was high and went down the right-field foul line, allowing Takeda and Ceo to score to make it 8-6. In the seventh, the Ducks tacked on another run, as Peterson led off with a homer to right-center to make it 9-6.

After the third, the Bruins were held to just two base runners, as only one of them reached second base. UCLA left eight on base for the game.

The Bruins and the Ducks continue their three-game series on Saturday at 6 p.m. Less than 100 tickets will be made available for Saturday's game at the Easton Stadium ticket office 90 minutes prior to first pitch on a first-come first-serve basis.
