Bruins to Send Two Pairs Teams to AVCA National Championships

The sixth-ranked Bruins will send two pairs teams to the AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championships. The team of juniors Meg Norton and Kelly Reeves and sophomore Zoë Nightingale and freshman Becca Strehlow will represent UCLA in Gulf Shores, Ala. from May 3-5.

The two UCLA pairs are part of the "Best of the Rest" duos, which will engage in pool play on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 as part of the pairs competition.

Norton and Reeves are in Pool A, which also consists of Georgia State's Lane Carico and Katie Madewell, Florida International's Jessica Mendoza and Maryna Samoday, UAB's Bethanie Thomas and Kiriana Hirini and Pacific's Hannah Clancy and Katarina Schultz.

Nightingale and Strehlow are in Pool B, consisting of Jacksonville's Sammie Strausbaugh and Taylor Nyquist, FIU's Kate Stepanova and Ksenia Sukhareva, Loyola Marymount's Felicia Arriola and Litara Keil and Saint Mary's Dallas Dodd and Jordan Shaw.

Pool play matches will be at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Friday, May 3 and 7 a.m., 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. The top finishers from Pool A and B will be seeded into the 16-team single elimination bracket, which will take place on Sunday, May 5.

First-round matches in the elimination bracket will start at 6 a.m. PT on May 5, the quarterfinals at 8 a.m. PT, the semifinals will begin at 10 a.m. PT and the championship match is slated for 12 p.m. PT and will be covered by CBS Sports Network.

CBS Sports Network will televise portions of the competition in three hour-long specials on Tuesday, May 21 (4 p.m. and 5 p.m.) and Tuesday, May 28 (5 p.m.).
