B.B. Bates Named NFCA Second Team All-American

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior B.B. Bates was named Second Team NFCA All-American on Wednesday. Bates led the Bruins this season in batting average, home runs and runs batted in, producing the second-best, single-season marks in homers (25) and RBI (74) in UCLA history.

Bates earned her first career All-American honor after also receiving First Team NFCA All-West Region and All-Pac-12 accolades earlier this month.

Bates led the Bruins in 2013 with a .374 batting average, 25 home runs, 74 runs batted in, an .863 slugging, a .469 on base percentage, 55 runs scored, 14 doubles, 21 multiple-hit games, 19 multi-RBI contests, 164 total bases and eight hit by pitches. The senior was also third with 28 walks and four stolen bases.

Bates wraps up her four-year career tied for third in school history in homers (55), fourth in RBI (197), tied for fourth in total bases (467) and fifth in slugging (.634) and runs scored (174), winning a National Championship in 2010.
