Sophomore Kylie Price and junior Ida Storm highlighted Day One at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene, as both women earned First Team All-America honors for their performances. Price placed sixth overall in the women's long jump final and Storm took fifth in the women's hammer throw final.
Competing in flight one, Price's mark of 20-11.75 (6.39m, +1.2w, first attempt) placed fourth, giving her an overall finals finish of sixth-place, good for three team points for the Bruins. Her other jump attempts were 20-3 (6.17m, +2.4w), 20-5.75 (6.24m, +1.8w), 20-9 (6.32m, +3.5w), 20-10 (6.35m, +1.0w) and a foul. For Storm, her performance Wednesday in Eugene matches the top finish in her UCLA career, a fifth place effort at the 2012 NCAA Outdoors. The junior Swede threw her top mark on her third attempt (214-5/65.35m), rebounding from a foul on her second throw.
Price also ran in the women's 100m semifinals Wednesday, competing in heat three and placing third with a wind-aided time of 11.36 (+2.3w). Her mark was 13th overall and she did not advance to Friday's final (the top two placements in each heat automatically qualify, along with the field's next two best times).
In the women's 400m hurdles semifinals, senior Turquoise Thompson finished second in heat three (56.60, +2.7w), automatically qualifying for Friday's final. Her mark was the fourth-best overall time. Thompson is a two-time All-American in the women's 400mH, placing second at both the 2011 and 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Her personal-best 55.18 is No. 6 all-time in UCLA history.

The heptathlon will also begin on Thursday, as Bruin junior Tatum Souza will look to improve on her personal-best 5,624 points (No. 7 UCLA all-time) when she placed second at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships. On Thursday Souza will compete in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m.
In the field, junior Alec Faldermeyer in the hammer throw will be competing to better his All-American third-place finish at last year's NCAA Outdoor. A two-time All-American in the event, he holds UCLA's No. 2 mark all-time (229-3/69.89m) in the hammer throw.
