Gallagher & Senko Honored, Baker & Campbell Compete at Nationals

Junior Anna Senko was named to the All-District Academic First Team, head coach Cyndi Gallagher was recognized in an article by USA Swimming and junior Lauren Baker and freshman Katy Campbell competed in the USA Swimming Open Water Nationals this week.

On Friday, Senko earned First Team All-District 8 Academic honors from CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Senko, who is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Teamer, received her award in the At-Large category and is now eligible for Academic All-American status later this year.

The most recent Bruin to earn All-District Academic honors was Nicolette Teo in 2008 (Second Team). The last Bruin to be named to the First Team was Katie Younglove in 2002.

On Friday, Baker and Campbell took part in the USA Swimming Open Water National Championships in Castaic, Calif. Baker finished 13th in the event with a time of 2:09:11.093, while Campbell was 17th at 2:11:35.807.

The Bruins hold their Blue-Gold Intrasquad meet on Tuesday, May 21.
