Five Bruins Earn 2013 ACWPC All-American Acclaim

LOS ANGELES - Rachel Fattal was one of five Bruins named to All-American teams by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). Fattal, the MPSF Newcomer of the Year, was named to the first team. Sami Hill was named to the second team while Emily Donohoe was selected to the third team. Natasha Schulman and Alys Williams were both named honorable mention All-Americans.

Fattal, a freshman attacker from Seal Beach, Calif., was also named to the All-MPSF Newcomer Team and was a Second Team All-MPSF selection. She finished second on the team and 9th in the MPSF in scoring with 68 goals (1.94 gpg), which led all MPSF Freshmen and was the most scored by a freshman in UCLA history. She led the team in field blocks (28), steals (40), shooting percentage (.544), sprints won (49) and was fifth on the squad in assists (29).

Hill, a redshirt sophomore goalkeeper from Santa Barbara, Calif., was a Second Team All-MPSF selection while breaking the UCLA single-season record in total saves (320). She held Stanford to 5 goals in the NCAA Semifinal contest and finished second in the MPSF in saves per game (10.74). She also was third in goals against average (6.26).

Donohoe, a sophomore attacker from Upland, Calif., also was named Second Team All-MPSF while leading UCLA in scoring with 70 goals (2.0 gpg), which ranked eighth in the MPSF. She also was second on the team in field blocks (14) and third in steals (26).

Schulman, a senior defender from Laguna Beach, Calif., also was a member of the MPSF All-Academic team while playing in all 35 games as starter. She only registered 32 ejections all season and scored four goals while tallying seven assists, four field blocks and 12 steals on the year.

Williams, a freshman defender from Huntington Beach, Calif., was fifth on the team in scoring with 29 goals (third among UCLA freshmen). She also was second in steals (29) and fourth in field blocks (8). She also registered 15 assists and won 15 sprints on the year.

UCLA finished the 2013 season with a 28-7 overall record and third-place finish at the NCAA Championship. The Bruins finished fourth in the MPSF with a league mark of 3-3.
