Incoming UCLA freshmen Bronte Law and Alison Lee will represent opposite sides in the biennial Junior Solheim Cup next month at the Inverness Golf Club in Englewood, CO.
Lee, the top-ranked junior player in the United States, was named to the Solheim Cup Team earlier this week. Law, a member of Great Britain and Ireland’s victorious 2012 Curtis Cup Team, was a wild card pick by Captain Janice Moodie.
In 2013, Lee, a Valencia HS graduate, won the Rolex Tournament of Champions, the Rolex Junior Girls Championship and the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior. In the latter tournament, she tied an AJGA record with a nine-under par score of 63 in the first round.
Law (left) helped lead Great Britain and Ireland to a 10.5-9.5 victory in the Curtis Cup at Nairn, Scotland last summer. The win was GB&I’s first in 16 years. Last August at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, she advanced to the round of 32 after tying for 37th place in stroke play. This summer, Law won the French Under-18s Championship with a 4 & 3 victory over Sweden’s Jessica Vasilic, another 2013 Junior Solheim Cup teammate.
The 2013 Junior Solheim Cup will take place August 12-14.
