For the fourth consecutive year, the UCLA men's soccer team has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-12.
The Bruins, who have won the last two Pac-12 championships, four out of the last five and eight in the conference's 13-year history, received all five possible first-place votes for a total of 25 points. Washington earned 19 points with one first-place vote to place second overall. Stanford followed in third place with 15 points while California and San Diego State came in at fourth and fifth respectively. Oregon State wrapped up the preseason poll in sixth with six points.
UCLA went 13-3-3 in 2012 and returns six starters off of last year's squad that reached the NCAA Tournament for the 30th consecutive year. Ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA preseason poll, the Bruins will open their season at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington, Ind. UCLA will kick off the tournament against seventh-ranked Notre Dame at 2 p.m. PT on Aug. 30 before taking on top-ranked and defending NCAA champion Indiana on Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. PT.
