LOS ANGELES – Head coach Steve Alford and the UCLA men’s basketball team will open practice in Pauley Pavilion to all fans free of admission on Sunday, Oct. 20, it was announced today.

UCLA’s open practice will give fans the chance to go behind the scenes and get a first-hand look at how Coach Alford and his staff conduct practice on a daily basis.

Practice will run from 3:30-5:15 pm. after the Bruins participate in the sixth annual “Dribble for the Cure” event on campus earlier in the day. Following practice, the team will take part in a meet and greet session with fans from approximately 5:15-5:30 pm.

“As a coaching staff, we’re all extremely pleased at how hard our guys have been working since preseason practice began a couple weeks ago,” Alford said. “Our team is excited to be back on the court and is committed to getting better each and every day. By opening practice, we have a great opportunity to share this work ethic with our loyal fans and alumni while giving them a behind-the-scenes look at just what it takes to be a member of the UCLA men’s basketball team.”

Fans will be able to enter Pauley Pavilion beginning at 2:30 pm and Coach Alford will address the crowd at the beginning of practice. Seating will be available on the north side of the court in sections 101-103. Fans will also have opportunities to collect the 2013-14 UCLA men’s basketball team poster and schedule card.

Parking will be available on campus in structures No. 4 and 8. Parking is available for a $12 day rate or by pay-per-space in either structure.

Media are welcome to attend the open practice, but there will be no player/coach availability prior to or following practice.

UCLA opens its regular season at home against Drexel on Friday, Nov. 8. Game time in Pauley Pavilion is 9 p.m. (PT). The Bruins will host 18 regular-season home games after playing a pair of exhibition games in Pauley Pavilion versus Cal State San Bernardino (Oct. 30) and Cal State San Marcos (Nov. 4).

The team’s non-conference schedule includes a contest at Missouri on Dec. 7 and a CARQUEST Auto Parts Classic game against Duke at Madison Square Garden in New York on Dec. 19. UCLA closes its non-conference slate versus Alabama in Pauley Pavilion on Dec. 28.
