The second-ranked Bruins (12-1-1, 4-0-1 in the Pac-12) dominated the run of play in the first half, outshooting the Bears (9-1-4, 2-1-2) by a 8-1 margin in the first stanza. Killion's goal in the 27th minute came off a set piece. Rosie White played a short corner kick to Caprice Dydasco, who sent it into the box to Killion. Slightly off-balance, Killion one-timed it past Cal goalkeeper Emily Kruger for her first goal of the season.
California came out firing to start the second half, taking the first three shots but going high on two and getting saved by Bruin goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland on the other. The Bruins had a flurry of shots late in the game as well, but Taylor Smith and Sam Mewis were saved by Kruger.
The win gave UCLA a weekend sweep in the Bay Area and six big points in the Pac-12 standings. The Bruins lead the conference with 13 points and a 4-0-1 record and will host Arizona State, who is just behind UCLA in the standings, on Friday at 7 pm.
