TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Karsta Lowe had 15 kills and junior Megan Moenoa posted a double-double with 20 assists and 12 digs, but the Bruins dropped a three-set decision to Arizona on Friday at the McKale Center. Set scores were 25-22, 25-20, 25-20.

The Bruin middles had an excellent match offensively, as junior Zoë Nightingale tallied six kills and no errors in 12 attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, while senior Mariana Aquino added six kills and only one miscue in 12 swings (.417). Sophomore Karly Drolson had 18 digs, senior Kelly Reeves recorded eight kills and seven digs and junior Monica Stauber notched 14 assists and five digs. The Bruins (10-7, 1-6 Pac-12) hit .242 for the match.

The opening set featured 11 ties and three lead changes. UCLA scored the first point of the match, but Arizona (14-5, 4-3) came back with an 8-3 run to go up by a set-best four at 8-4. With the score 10-6, the Bruins had a 5-1 run to even the score at 11. Nightingale, Lowe and Reeves had kills, while the Wildcats committed two attack errors. UCLA would finally get its lead back at 15-14, but a 4-1 run put Arizona back up by two at 18-16.

Trailing 19-17, the Bruins went on a 4-1 run to go ahead 21-20, as Lowe had three kills and Reeves added another. UCLA still led by one at 22-21, but Arizona scored the last four points of the set to take the opener 25-22. Lowe had nine kills and no errors in 11 attempts (.818) in the first set, as the Bruins out-hit the Wildcats .406 to .314.

UCLA trailed early 7-4 in the second set, but a 6-1 run put the visitors up 10-8. The Bruins had kills from sophomore Maddy Klineman, Stauber, Reeves, freshman Claire Felix and Aquino, who also teamed up with Felix and Klineman on a pair of blocks. The Wildcats came back to tie the score at 11, but a 4-1 Bruin run put them ahead 15-12. A Felix kill and a UA attack error made it 13-11, and after a sideout, consecutive Lowe kills put UCLA up by three.

Arizona responded though with runs of 5-0, 9-1 and 11-2 to go ahead 23-17. The Wildcats would take the second 25-20. Lowe paced the Bruins with three kills, as UCLA, which had nine different players record at least one kill, still out-hit Arizona .245 to .220. Drolson added seven digs.

The Bruins scored the first point of set three, but the Wildcats netted 10 of the next 12 to go ahead 10-3 and never trailed for the rest of the set. The closest UCLA got for the rest of the set was three, as Arizona took the third 25-20. Lowe and Reeves had three kills in the third set, as the Bruins were out-hit .140 to .128. Drolson added 11 digs, while Moenoa had five.

The Bruins wrap up their four-match road trip on Sunday at 11 a.m. at #22 Arizona State. The contest will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
