LOS ANGELES -- The No. 2 UCLA men's water polo team defeated No. 11 Concordia, 15-11, in the nightcap of a double-header on Friday at Spieker Aquatics Center. The Bruins improved to 23-2 overall while the Eagles dropped to 17-9.

Freshman Ryder Roberts scored a career-high four goals in the win as UCLA freshmen scored 11-of-15 goals for the Bruins. Stefano Ragosa and Jacob Belamaric each had a hat trick for Concordia.

The Bruins dominated the first quarter, racing out to a  5-1 lead. Ragosa scored the game's first goal for Concordia (5:44). But the Bruins went to work, scoring five straight to end the period. UCLA looked to be on cruise control, scoring the first two goals of the second period to build a 7-1 advantage. Roberts scored his second on a 6-on-5 opportunity (3:56) and then senior Aimone Barabino scored on a power play (1:32) to put UCLA up 7-1. Ragosa then scored his second of the game to snap the Bruins seven straight goals with an exclusion score with :50 left in the second. The Bruins took an 8-2 lead into the break after redshirt freshman Alec Zwaneveld scored from two meters (0:35).

Concordia showed some fight in the third period, winning the quarter 4-2. Jacob Pril scored from the front court to make it 8-3 (6:37). But Zwaneveld scored his second of the game to put the Bruins up 9-3 with a power play score (5:24). The Eagles then scored two more goals to trim the lead to 9-5. Sophomore Danny McClintick scored his first from the front court (2:25) to put the Bruins up 10-5. But Ragosa completed his hat trick with a goal from the front court to end the scoring in the third with the Bruins leading 10-6.

Both teams exploded for five goals in the fourth period. UCLA got two more goals from Roberts, his third and fourth of the game (7:00 and 6:09), as the Bruins led 12-8. Then senior Paul Pickell scored a power play goal (4:45) and Zwaneveld completed a hat trick with a goal from set (4:10) as UCLA was rolling 14-8. But three straight goals by the Eagles made things interesting at 14-11 with 2:28 remaining. Junior Chris Fahlsing scored the game's final goal on a power play (1:49) to provide the final margin of 15-11.

Redshirt freshman Garrett Danner made the start in the cage for UCLA, playing just the first quarter, and was credited with five saves.
