UCLA head women’s volleyball coach Michael Sealy has announced the signing of Reily Buechler to a National Letter of Intent. Buechler is a 6-2 outside hitter at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego.

Buechler was a MaxPreps Preseason All-American this season and was also named the Most Valuable Player of the prestigious Durango Classic in Las Vegas for the second straight year, as TPHS again won the tournament championship. Buechler has helped the Falcons to a 29-3 record and a fourth straight, undefeated Palomar League title. In 75 sets through Nov. 7, she has 345 kills (4.6 kps) and 171 digs (2.3 dps), hitting .346 with 20 aces.

Torrey Pines, ranked 18th nationally and third in the state by MaxPreps, opens the San Diego Section Championships – Open Division on Nov. 16 at home against Cathedral Catholic. The Open Division Semifinals take place on Nov. 20, with the Final on Nov. 23. The Falcons have won two straight Section titles.

“Reily is a great ball control outside hitter who has the capabilities to come in and compete for a spot immediately,” Sealy said. “She has a high volleyball IQ and a passion to compete. Her court presence can make an immediate impact.”

Buechler was recently named to the PrepVolleyball Senior Aces list, coming in at #28, and was also announced as an Under Armour First-Team All-America. With the honor, she will be invited to play in the Under Armour All-America Volleyball Match and Skills Competition on December 20 in Seattle.

Buechler, who plays club with Wave, was the San Diego CIF Player of the Year in 2012, also earning All-San Diego Section and All-North County honors. She recorded 424 kills, 256 digs and 30 aces.

Buechler’s addition will give the Bruins their third Torrey Pines product in as many years, joining 2013 sophomore Karly Drolson and current freshman Jennie Frager. Buechler’s father, Jud, who was a volleyball All-American at Arizona, is better known as a 12-year player in the NBA and a three-time champion with the Chicago Bulls. Buechler’s mother, Lindsey, was a standout setter at Arizona and still ranks in the Wildcat Top 10 in assists and digs.
