The Bruins won the only previous meeting against Sacramento State, securing an 86-56 victory on Dec. 23, 2005. UCLA enters Monday’s non-conference meeting with a 2-0 record this season, having defeated Drexel (72-67) and Oakland (91-60) in its first two contests. Sacramento State opened the year with a 73-43 win over UC Santa Cruz before dropping a 74-66 decision to Cal State Bakersfield last Wednesday evening. Monday’s game will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.

Jordan Adams has led UCLA in scoring in each of the Bruins’ first two victories, logging 16 points in the season-opening win against Drexel before totaling a team-best 22 points against Oakland last Tuesday night. The Bruins have averaged 81.5 points per game, holding the opposition to just 63.5 points per contest. Tony Parker ranks second on the team in scoring (13.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.5 rpg), shooting at a 72.2 percent clip (13-for-18). Kyle Anderson has averaged 10.0 points and a team-leading 10.5 rebounds per game.

Ranked No. 24 in last week’s Associated Press poll, UCLA returns to the court this fall with six of its primary eight contributors from last season’s team. Three of UCLA’s five starters return from last season’s team – sophomores Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson and senior Travis Wear – along with senior David Wear, junior Norman Powell and sophomore Tony Parker, who each played at least 33 of 35 games for UCLA last season.

Steve Alford was named the 13th head coach in UCLA men’s basketball program history on March 30, 2013, after six highly-successful seasons as head coach at the University of New Mexico. A former NCAA Champion at Indiana University (1984-87) and starter on the United States’ gold medal-winning 1984 Olympic Team, Alford has served as head coach at Manchester College (1992-95), Missouri State (1996-99), Iowa (2000-07) and New Mexico (2008-13).

Sophomore forward/center Tony Parker had a career night in UCLA’s 91-60 win over Oakland on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The 6-foot-9 product from Atlanta, Ga., thad career highs with 21 points, 12 rebounds, 10 field goals and 12 field goal attempts. Parker shed nearly 25 pounds during the Bruins’ offseason and has emerged as a force for UCLA down low. He led UCLA with 34 minutes in the team’s most recent victory, logging 11 points and eight rebounds by halftime.

Senior Travis Wear underwent appendectomy surgery on Oct. 28 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and is questionable for Monday’s game against Sacramento State. Freshman Noah Allen suffered multiple fractures to his face after a collision with one of Oakland’s players on Nov. 12. Allen underwent surgery on Nov. 14. A timetable for his return has not been determined. Freshman Wanaah Bail underwent left knee surgery to repair torn cartilage on June 28. He is participating in non-contact drills but has not been completely cleared to practice.

Kyle Anderson has come within three assists of recording a triple-double in three games at UCLA. He twice finished three assists shy of the coveted mark in Dec. 2012. Anderson had 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in UCLA’s 72-67 win over Drexel on Friday, Nov. 8 (UCLA’s season opener). The sophomore from Fairview, N.J., is looking to become the first UCLA player to record a point-rebound-assist triple-double since Toby Bailey had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Stephen F. Austin during his sophomore season (Dec. 18, 1995).
