UNLV Fall Invitational Central | Arizona Diving Invitational Central

LAS VEGAS - Senior Anna Senko and freshman Linnea Mack each posted NCAA 'B' qualifying times, while Mack also reached the all-time UCLA Top 8 during day one of the UNLV Fall Invitational on Thursday.

In the preliminaries of the first event, the 500 Freestyle, four Bruins would qualify for the evening finals, including a pair in the A Final. Senior Lauren Baker was sixth with a 4:55.64, and was joined by sophomore Katy Campbell's eighth-place showing with a 4:56.17. Junior Ally Loper (18th, 5:00.39) and freshman Hayden Walker (21st, 5:00.55) each qualified for the evening C Final.

Two Bruins qualified for the A Final in the 200 Individual Medley, as Senko was fourth (2:02.18) and freshman Ashley Tse was seventh (2:03.78). Sophomore Katie Kinnear (12th, 2:05.92) and junior Noelle Tarazona (15th, 2:06.39) made the B Final, sophomore Arlyn Upshaw (26th, 2:07.48) was in the C Final and senior Ting Quah (31st, 2:08.10) made the D Final.

Quah earned a spot in the A Final of the 50 Free with a time of 23.56 and was one of seven Bruins to make the evening finals. Mack was 10th in the prelims (23.65) to earn a spot in the B Final, while five of the eight spots in the C Final belonged to UCLA. Senior Kathryn Murphy was 17th (23.82) and followed by freshman Madison White (18th, 23.89), senior Jesse Bergman (20th, 23.92), Kinnear (22nd, 23.94) and junior Jessica Khojasteh (23rd, 23.95).

The evening session began with the 200 Free Relay, as the Bruin quartet of Senko, Mack, Kinnear and Quah finished third in a time of 1:32.32. The UCLA B team of junior Monica Dornick, White, Khojasteh and Bergman finished eighth (1:33.91).

In the 500 Free A Final, Baker had a 4:54.46, which was seventh, followed by Campbell's eighth-place showing (4:57.64). Loper remained 18th overall, finishing second in the C Final, but improved nearly 12 seconds from her prelim time with a 4:48.70, which would have been fifth in the A Final. Walker was 20th, fourth in the C Final, with a 4:57.94.

Senko finished third in the 200 IM Final with an NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 2:00.38. Tse improved to sixth in the A Final with a time of 2:01.94. Tarazona won the B Final with a 2:03.71 and led a 1-2 UCLA finish in that race, as Kinnear had a 2:03.98 to give the Bruins four of the top 10 placings in the event. Upshaw improved to 20th overall (fourth in the C Final) with a 2:06.12, while Quah won the D Final (25th overall) with a 2:03.20, nearly five seconds better than the prelims.

Quah came right back with a fourth-place showing in the 50 Free A Final with a 23.15. Mack won the B Final with a 22.87 (ninth overall), which stands as an NCAA 'B' qualifying time and tied her for the eighth-best mark in UCLA history. Kinnear led a handful of Bruins in the C Final, winning the race with a 23.79 (17th), followed by White (18th, 23.81), Khojasteh (19th, 23.82), Bergman (21st, 24.06) and sophomore Madison Applegate (23rd, 24.23), who took Murphy's spot. Freshman Savannah Steffen (31st, 24.28) swam in the D Final, while freshman Brigitte Winkler (38th, 24.05) was in the E Final.

UCLA finished up the evening with a fifth-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay (3:42.18). White, Tse, Quah and Mack had a time of 3:42.18.

Friday's schedule starts with the 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Free, 100 Breaststroke and 100 Backstroke. Those event finals and the 200 Medley Relay and 800 Free Relay will be that evening. 

The UCLA diving team opens up the Arizona Diving Invitational on Friday with the 3-Meter event at 11 a.m. PT.
