WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – UCLA sophomore Ishmael Adams was named the Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Adams, a sophomore from Woodland Hills, Calif., collected 234 return yards in his first game serving as the return man in the Bruins’ 38-33 loss to Arizona State.
His efforts in the return game led to three UCLA scores, including a 58-yard return on the Sun Devil’s first kickoff of the game to set up a 42-yard scoring pass on the next play and a 49-yard punt return that set up a 48-yard field goal that put the Bruins ahead late in the first quarter.
On the season defensively, Adams has totaled 51 tackles, including 1.5 for loss and half a sack. The defensive back leads the team with four interceptions and has also broken up three passes.
