LOS ANGELES - UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr earned first-team All-America honors on Thursday, as the Walter Camp Football Foundation released its list of All-Americans for 2013.
Thursday was a big day for Barr, who is in Florida for the ESPN College Football Awards Show as he is a finalist for the Bednarik Award, given to the nation's top defensive player. Earlier this week, he won the Lott IMPACT Trophy and was a finalist for the Butkus and Lombardi awards.
Athlon Sports and NFL.com also have tabbed Barr as a first-team All-American. Offensive lineman Xavier Su’a-Filo was selected to the first-team All-America squad by NFL.com and is a second-team pick by Athlon. Linebacker Myles Jack earned first-team Athlon All-America honors as an all-purpose player. The freshman was also recognized as the publication’s pick for Newcomer of the Year in the conference.
Earlier in the week USA Today named Barr a first-team All-America selection and Su’a-Filo to the second-team.
The Bruins will take on Virginia Tech in the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas. See the UCLA Bowl Central page for further information.
