Senior Paulina Guzman finished fourth on the 1-Meter event on day one of the Bruin Diving Invitational, while freshman Annika Lenz placed fifth. Four Bruins made the 1-Meter finals, as senior Haley McNamara was 13th and freshman Danni Repper placed 17th.
Guzman was third after the preliminary six dives after totaling a season-best 270.15. Lenz was ninth at 239.75, followed by Repper (13th, 226.30), McNamara (15th, 223.60) and sophomore Montana Monahan, who just missed on making the Top 18 of the finals with a 217.40 (19th).
Guzman nearly matched her preliminary score in her final six dives with a 268.10 to finish fourth with a combined score of 538.25. Lenz improved to fifth position after a season-best score of 285.60 in her last six dives for a total of 525.35. McNamara scored 226.0 in the finals for a total of 449.60, while Repper had a 204.50 in the finals for a total of 430.80.
The Bruin Diving Invitational continues Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Women's 3-Meter and the Men's 1-Meter. The UCLA swimmers join the divers at Spieker Aquatics Center tomorrow with a Pac-12 dual meet against Utah, which will be aired live on Pac-12 Networks. The swimming portion starts at 10:40 a.m. with the 1000 Freestyle.
