LOS ANGELES - Norman Powell scored 10 of his season-high 21 points during a 3 1/2 minute span of the second half to lead UCLA past USC, 83-73, at the Trojans’ Galen Center on Saturday night.

Jordan Adams finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for the Bruins (18-5, 7-3 Pac-12), who completed a season sweep of USC (10-13, 1-9) before 9,216 fans at Galen Center.

UCLA earned its seventh victory in the last eight meetings against USC. In addition, the Bruins have won each of the last three contests versus the Trojans at Galen Center.

Kyle Anderson recorded his 12th double-double of the season, the 20th of his career, with 15 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Anderson also logged two blocks and one steal in 38 minutes.

USC’s Byron Wesley scored a game-high 27 points, connecting on 10 of 17 field goals. Wesley made 4 of 5 three-point attempts and grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds.

UCLA trailed at halftime by a 41-35 margin, but used a 10-0 run to open the second half and secure a 45-41 cushion. USC led 46-45 with 16:38 remaining before Powell’s jump shot at the 16:22 mark gave the Bruins a 47-46 advantage and the lead for good.

The Bruins used a 14-0 run after trailing 46-45 to extend their margin to 59-46 with 13:35 to play in the contest. UCLA’s 14-0 run featured seven points from Powell.

UCLA pushed its advantage to as many as 16 points, leading 69-53 with 7:38 remaining.

Adams scored in double figures for the 21st time in 23 games this season. Anderson finished in double figures for the 19th time in 23 games.

USC led by as many as 10 points in the opening half. Brendyn Taylor’s steal with five minutes to go before the break led to a Byron Wesley layup, pushing the Trojans’ lead to 34-24.

UCLA trimmed its first-half deficit to three points with 1:21 remaining before halftime, but USC answered with a free throw shot by Omar Oraby with 51 seconds left and a dunk from D.J. Haley with four seconds to go.

Game Notes: UCLA improved to 6-2 in eight all-time meetings against USC at Galen Center (building opened prior to the 2006-07 season) … the Bruins’ 83 total points are the most scored by any UCLA team in eight games played at Galen Center … Norman Powell registered at least 20 points for the first time this season and for the second time in his career … Powell’s eight field goals are the most by any Bruin in one game played at Galen Center … through the last four Pac-12 weekends (since Jan. 15), Pac-12 road teams have compiled a 9-31 record – UCLA has three of those nine victories (at Colorado, at Oregon and at USC) … this marks the first season since 2009-10 in which either UCLA or USC has swept the regular-season series in men’s basketball and won the football game (USC last accomplished that feat in 2009-10, and UCLA earned that sweep previously in 2006-07) ... Kyle Anderson has become UCLA's first player since 1994-95 (Charles O'Bannon) to record at least 200 rebounds and 100 assists in one season (Anderson has 201 rebounds and 153 assists, while Charles O'Bannon finished that season with 201 rebounds and 101 assists).
