Junior Matt Pinizzotto fired a career-best round to ignite the 15th-ranked UCLA men’s golf team’s third-place finish at The Prestige at PGA West Wednesday.

The Bruins posted a final round team score of 273 (-11) to jump two spots into third place at 841 (-11). Stanford took top honors with a score of 831 (-21), followed by runner-up Washington at 833 (-19). LSU was fourth at 846 (-6), while Texas Tech and Arizona State tied for fifth at even par 852.

Pinizzotto, who recorded seven of the Bruins’ 25 birdies on the day, blistered the course with a final round 66 (-5). That score enabled him to vault 25 spots up the leader board into a tie for 12th place at 211 (-2). Sophomore Jonathan Garrick was the Bruins’ top finisher, tying for seventh place and climbing seven spots to 209 (-4) following a 68 (-3) in the final round. Tied for 16th place were senior Anton Arboleda and sophomore Lorens Chan at one-under par 212. Arboleda improved 15 places with a final round score of 68 (-3), while Chan posted a 72 (+1). Junior Jay Hwang tied for 28th at 215 (+2) after his round of even par 71. Sophomore Jake Knapp, playing as an individual, posted a 74 (+2) and tied for 56th at 223 (+10).

Stanford’s Patrick Rodgers was the individual medalist finishing at nine-under par 204 after an even par round of 71.
