The fourth-ranked UCLA men’s tennis team (8-1) hosts one of its biggest matches of the season this week, as No. 2 USC (9-1) visits the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Tuesday at Noon. The match will not count in the Pac-12 standings, however it does have significant implications as far as seeding for the NCAA Tournament is concerned. The league match between these two teams will be on April 18 at USC. Tuesday’s match will be covered by the Pac-12 Networks (singles only). Doubles is scheduled to start at Noon, with singles play to begin at 1:30 p.m. There is no cost for admission to the match. Free pizza (first 100 fans) will be given away and there will also be a chance to win prizes by entering the Bruin Trivia Contest.

UCLA in the ITA Rankings
As a team, UCLA is currently at No. 4 in the ITA Team rankings, trailing only Ohio State, USC and Virginia. Individually, Clay Thompson continues to be the No. 1 player in the nation. He is joined the top 5 by Marcos Giron. Gage Brymer (No. 26) and Mackenzie McDonald (No. 51) are also ranked in singles. Giron and McDonald are the lone UCLA doubles team ranked, checking in at No. 9. Note: new rankings are scheduled to be released Tuesday morning. They can be found HERE.

NCAA Title Rematch Set for March 6
UCLA and Virginia played an epic match in the final of the NCAA Championships last year in Illinois and the two teams will meet again in Los Angeles on March 6. The Bruins and Cavaliers played in what will likely go down as the most thrilling NCAA Championship match in men’s college tennis history in 2013, as the second-seeded Cavaliers pulled off a 4-3 victory over the top-seeded Bruins at the University of Illinois’ Atkins Tennis Center. Last year’s match was decided by a third set in the final singles match at court No. 3.
