LOS ANGELES - Junior Ally Carda tied a career high with 11 strikeouts in a 7-2 victory over Loyola Chicago, while senior Jessica Hall tossed a three-hit shutout in a 4-0 win against Charleston Southern on Saturday at the UCLA/CSUN Invitational at Easton Stadium.

The Bruins improve to 21-1 with the doubleheader sweep.

Carda moved to 12-1 on the season, allowing two runs, eight hits and one walk in the complete game. She struck out the side in the second and two apiece in the first, third and sixth innings, posting 1-2-3 frames in the sixth and seventh.

Carda was also the offensive star with three hits and two runs batted in. Freshman Jelly Felix added a pair of hits for the Bruins, who had 10 as a team. Senior Alyssa Tiumalu and sophomore Mysha Sataraka both drove in two runs.

The Bruins scored three in the second inning on a two-out rally. Tiumalu walked and moved to third on a single up the middle by junior Gracie Goulder, who advanced to second on the throw from the outfield. Carda then tripled down the left-field line to score both Bruins to make it 2-0. Freshman Gabrielle Maurice followed with a tapper to first, but it was booted by Brie Pasquale, allowing Carda to score UCLA's third run.

Loyola Chicago (8-13) got on the board in the fourth. Alyssa Mannucci led off with an infield single to short, and one out later, moved to second on a single up the middle by Olivia Bell. One out later, a Pasquale single up the middle scored Mannucci to make it 3-1. The Ramblers scratched another run across in the fifth. With two outs and Lauren Zaworski at first, Mannucci doubled to left-center to bring in Loyola's second run.

UCLA added some insurance runs with two in the fifth and two in the sixth. In the fifth, Hall singled to left with one out and was pinch-run for junior Sam Duran, who moved to second on a single to center by Felix. Tiumalu followed with a double off the top of the center-field wall to plate both runners to make it 5-2.

In the sixth, freshman Delaney Spaulding singled through the left side to open the inning, stole second and scored one out later on a homer to left by Sataraka, her sixth of the season and third in as many as games, to extend the lead to 7-2.

In the nightcap, the Bruins were held hitless through the fourth inning, but the home team scored four in the fifth and that was all Hall needed. The senior fanned eight in a complete game shutout to improve to 7-0 on the year, giving up three hits and two walks. Hall posted one strikeout in each of the first six innings and two in the seventh, recording 1-2-3 frames in the fourth, sixth and seventh.

The best chances for Charleston Southern (10-12-1) came in the first, when it stranded third and second with two outs, and in the third, when the Buccaneers had a runner at second with no outs and could not score.

UCLA's only three hits came in the fifth. Goulder opened the inning by reaching on an error by Stephanie Bergmann at short, Carda drew a walk and Maurice sacrifice them both over. Spaulding followed with a deep drive to left for her fourth homer of the season to put the Bruins up 3-0. Sataraka then walked and was pinch-run for by junior Jessica Amaral, who stole second, moved to third on a single to left by Hall and scored on a Moeai sacrifice fly to deep center to make it 4-0.

The Bruins finish the weekend with two more games against Bakersfield at 2:30 p.m. and Georgetown at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Free audio and live stats will be available at
