ST. LOUIS – UCLA sophomores Jordan Adams and Kyle Anderson are among 10 players who have earned USBWA All-District IX acclaim, as announced Tuesday by the U.S. Basketball Writers’ Association (USBWA).

Adams and Anderson, who were honored as first-team All-Pac-12 Conference selections on Monday, have been instrumental in guiding the Bruins to a 23-8 overall record and second-place finish in the Pac-12 standings under first-year UCLA head coach Steve Alford.

The USBWA’s District IX incorporates the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska and Arizona.

Adams has led UCLA in scoring this season (17.5 ppg), having posted the seventh-highest scoring average among Pac-12 players. Across the board, Adams’ numbers have improved since his freshman season. The sophomore from Atlanta has averaged 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 rebounds and a conference-best 2.8 steals per game. Adams has established a new UCLA single-season steals record (85), eclipsing Cameron Dollar’s previous record of 82 steals during the 1996-97 season.

Anderson has averaged 14.9 points per game while leading UCLA in both rebounds (8.7 rpg) and assists (6.6 apg). The sophomore guard from Fairview, N.J., is the only player in the Pac-12 to rank among the conference’s top five leaders in rebounds, assists and steals. No player in the nation has averaged as close to a triple-double on a nightly basis as has Anderson. He also leads the Pac-12 with 15 double-doubles this year.

Arizona’s Nick Johnson was named the district’s Player of the Year, while Arizona head coach Sean Miller earned Coach of the Year acclaim.

Joining Adams, Anderson and Johnson on this season’s All-District IX Team include Arizona State’s Jordan Bachynski and Jahii Carson, San Diego State’s Xavier Thames, Washington’s C.J. Wilcox, UC Santa Barbara’s Alan Williams and Oregon’s Joseph Young.

No. 2-seed UCLA returns to action in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday, March 13. The Bruins will face the winner of Wednesday’ contest featuring No. 7-seed Oregon and No. 10-seed Oregon State. UCLA’s game Thursday will tipoff at 6:00 p.m. (PT) and will be televised live on Pac-12 Networks.
